The Hero Algorithm: Prism

Mika Burrows, an African American senior studying computational science at Koda State University in Vane City, lives a quiet, reserved life. Shy and introspective, he finds comfort in stargazing and in the company of his childhood friend, Ellis Reed — a charismatic wide receiver studying economics. One evening, while observing the night sky from a hill near campus, Mika witnesses a glowing purple meteor crash into the park. Drawn by curiosity, he approaches the crater and is struck by a blinding light. An alien artifact fuses to his chest, refusing to let go. Back in his dorm, Mika accidentally activates the artifact, discovering it grants him the ability to create powerful energy constructs shaped by his computational mind. Shocked, he confides in Ellis, who encourages him to embrace this gift. Together, they begin designing Mika’s hero identity and training him to control the artifact.
